| Bulk Trash Collection specifics
The city will make special collections of household items, other
than regular garbage and trash and not including construction
materials and debris from demolition or lot clearance, from
residential properties; such special collections shall be on
a regularly scheduled basis, as established from the nature of the
items to be collected and the availability of personnel and
vehicles in relation to demand for such collections and other
responsibilities of the Department of Public Works, and subject to
the following regulations:

Requests for special collections
shall be made to City Hall by 4:30 p.m. two days preceding the
designated collection day. |
| B. |
Materials for special
collections shall be placed at the property curbline not
earlier than 4:00 pm of the day before the scheduled special
collection nor later than 7:30 a. m. of the day of scheduled
special collection. |
| C. |
Tree limbs, brush, trimmings,
boards or similar materials shall be no longer than four feet
in length and shall be securely bundled and tied into units
weighing no more than 40 pounds. |
| D. |
Any other loose materials shall
be placed in cartons or containers with a total weight of no
more than 40 pounds. |
| E. |
Wood materials and metal materials shall be
separated. |
| F. |
Major items such as appliances and furniture
will be picked up with the following fees charged:
| $5 per chair |
$5 per television up to 19 inches |
$10 per sofa, refrigerator, stove, dryer,
washer, dishwasher, console television or any other large
item, etc. |
No more than two major items shall be placed for special
collection at one time. The fee for major items shall be
paid for prior to the day of scheduled pickup. no such
major item shall be placed or permitted to remain where it is
visible from the street until the time for placement for
collection as provided in Subsection B hereof. |
| G. |
A maximum of one pickup truckload of material
will be collected in any one special collection. In the
event that an amount greater than one pickup truckload is
placed for collection, a fee will be charged to the resident
calculated to defray the city's landfill expense relating to
such excess amount of material; such fee, if unpaid,
shall be a charge against the subject property. |
| H. |
Special collections are intended to
accommodate normal and reasonable accumulations of materials
arising from residential use properties in the city, including
materials from seasonal cleanups and from limited repair and
remodeling projects. The city will not collect materials
arising from work or projects performed by contractors or by
an owner acting as a general contractor for the work or
project. |
